Welcome to ESG

Congratulations! You have successfully installed Plone.

Established in 1969, the Experimental Study Group (ESG) is the oldest of the four freshman learning communities at MIT.  It offers instruction in the core freshman subjects of biology, chemistry, math and physics through small, discussion-based classes designed for freshmen who are interested in taking an active role in their education.  Instruction takes place in a 14-room suite on the top floor of one of the central buildings on campus; 10 MIT staff and faculty members and 25 upperclass teaching assistants serve as the program's instructors.  Academics are supplemented by a variety of community activities, including weekly luncheons, evening study sessions, and weekend trips.

Herb Lin Challenge

Herb Lin (ESG class of 1973) challenges his fellow alumni to raise money for ESG’s educational initiatives and community activities – he will match any gift up to a total of $2,000.
